This transfer guide is designed for students pursuing the Associate of Science (A.S.) Information Technology degree who wish to complete the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Information Technology degree. Be sure to consult with your community college academic advisor each semester to make sure you are on track for graduation.

Students who have taken ENG 111 spring 2024 or prior will receive credit for ENGH 101 (Composition). Students who take ENG 111 after spring 2024 will receive ENGH— (English elective), which does not satisfy Mason Core. 

ENG 125 will transfer to fulfill the Mason Core literature requirement until 2025.

Notes

Information Technology is a selective admission major. Transfer applicants must present:

• A 2.85 cumulative GPA
• English Composition equivalent to ENGH 101. VCCS ENG 111 or 112 with grades of a C or higher.
• A math course transferable as Mason Core or Pre-Calculus with a grade of C or higher. VCCS transfers must choose one of the following courses: MTH 154, 167, 245, 261, or 263. MTH 245 and MTH 261 are recommended.

The Department of Information Sciences and Technology encourages VCCS students to meet the requirements for and enroll as GAA transfers.

*Admitted VCCS students who complete any of the following courses with grades of A or B will receive the direct transfer credit equivalency. Transfer equivalencies are awarded individually.
