Individualized Study, BIS
These are suggested courses which fulfill some degree requirements for the Bachelor of Individualized Study degree. Transfer associate’s degree programs and courses vary among the 23 VCCS colleges. Be sure to consult your community college academic advisor each semester to make sure you are on track to graduate in an A.A. or A.A.& S or A.S. degree.
Students who have taken ENG 111 spring 2024 or prior will receive credit for ENGH 101 (Composition). Students who take ENG 111 after spring 2024 will receive ENGH— (English elective), which does not satisfy Mason Core.
ENG 125 will transfer to fulfill the Mason Core literature requirement until 2025.

The Bachelor of Individualized Study program is an adult degree-completion major. Applicants must be 22 or older and meet the unique requirements for program admission. Prospective students are encouraged to participate in a BIS information session before applying. Additional admission and department contact information is available on the BIS website.
